Casualty & Liability Insurance

Protect against the financial impact of covered claims involving injury, property damage or liability. We help households and businesses understand where liability protection begins, what it excludes and when additional limits may be worth discussing.

A closer look

Understand your options.

Personal liability

Home and auto policies can provide liability protection for covered injuries or damage to others. Review household activities, drivers and existing limits to identify gaps rather than assuming every situation is covered.

Business liability

General liability addresses certain third-party bodily injury and property damage claims. Professional services, employees and vehicles may require different policies; one policy does not cover every business risk.

Additional protection

Ask whether umbrella or excess liability coverage is appropriate above your underlying policies. Required underlying limits, exclusions and the types of covered claims differ by policy.

Limits matter, but so do exclusions and how your policies work together. We can help you prepare the right questions for your liability review.

Questions people ask us

What is casualty insurance?+

Casualty is a broad insurance category often associated with liability protection. It can help address certain covered losses when you are legally responsible for injury or damage to others; protection depends on the policy.

Is liability coverage the same as property coverage?+

No. Property coverage generally protects your own covered property. Liability coverage generally responds to covered claims by other people. Many policies combine both, but each part has separate terms and limits.

Do I need an umbrella policy?+

That depends on your exposures, assets and existing protection. An agent can discuss additional limits and explain the underlying policy requirements. Umbrella insurance does not cover every excluded claim.

Does general liability cover professional mistakes?+

Typically, professional errors require professional liability coverage rather than general liability alone. Describe the services you provide so an agent can identify the policies to discuss.

Coverage, discounts and availability vary by carrier, location and underwriting. A quote request does not bind coverage; your policy documents determine the protection provided.
