Insurance questions,
clearer answers.

Get to know the basics, explore common questions and bring the details that matter to your conversation with an agent.

Insurance basics

What is a deductible?+

A deductible is the amount you are responsible for on a covered claim before certain insurance benefits apply. Deductibles may differ by coverage or type of loss. Compare the deductible with the premium and the amount you could comfortably pay yourself.

What do limits and exclusions mean?+

A limit is the maximum a policy pays for a particular covered loss, subject to its terms. An exclusion describes something the policy does not cover. Endorsements can change coverage, so review the complete policy rather than relying on the summary alone.

Does a quote request mean I am insured?+

No. A quote request starts a conversation. Coverage must be formally arranged and its effective date confirmed. Do not cancel an existing policy until replacement coverage is confirmed.

Home & auto

How are homeowners, renters and condo insurance different?+

Homeowners coverage generally includes the home itself, while renters coverage focuses on belongings and personal liability. Condo coverage is designed to work alongside an association’s master policy. The property you own and the policy terms determine which protections to review.

Does homeowners insurance cover flooding?+

Standard homeowners policies generally exclude flood damage. Ask about separate flood coverage and discuss your property’s exposure. Water backup and flood are different causes of loss and may need different protection.

What is the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value?+

Replacement cost generally considers the cost to repair or replace covered property, subject to policy conditions and limits. Actual cash value usually accounts for depreciation. Ask how your policy values your home, roof and belongings.

What does auto liability cover compared with collision and comprehensive?+

Auto liability generally addresses covered injury or property damage you cause to others. Collision addresses certain accident damage to your vehicle; comprehensive addresses certain non-collision losses such as theft or weather. Each has its own terms, limits and deductible requirements.

Can I bundle home and auto coverage?+

Ask which multi-policy options are available for your situation. Discounts and eligibility vary by carrier, and a lower combined price is not guaranteed. Compare the protection and total cost of separate and bundled policies.

Life insurance

How much life insurance should I consider?+

Think about who depends on your income, debts, housing costs, childcare and future expenses. Subtract existing resources and coverage you expect to remain available. An agent can help you discuss a needs assessment; there is no single amount that fits every household.

How is term life different from permanent life insurance?+

Term life covers a specified period, subject to its terms. Permanent insurance is designed for longer-term protection and may include cash value, but continuing coverage depends on the policy’s funding and conditions. Compare premiums, guarantees and risks before choosing.

Business & liability

What insurance should a business owner ask about?+

Start with your activities, property, employees, vehicles, contracts and the advice or services you provide. General liability, property, workers’ compensation, commercial auto and professional liability are common discussion topics. Availability and requirements must be confirmed for your business.

What is casualty or liability insurance?+

Casualty is a broad category often associated with liability protection. Liability coverage generally concerns covered claims by others involving injury or damage, while property coverage generally protects your own covered property. Each part has separate conditions, limits and exclusions.

Does an umbrella policy cover every claim?+

No. Umbrella or excess liability policies add protection under specific conditions, usually above required underlying limits. They have exclusions and may not apply to every policy or type of claim. Ask how the proposed coverage would work with your existing policies.

Aetna group benefits

Does Ferrer Insurance Group offer Aetna group plans?+

Yes. We offer Aetna group benefit plans. Availability and eligibility depend on your location, group and plan requirements. Share your approximate employee count, business location and priorities so we can discuss the available options.

What should employers compare when choosing benefits?+

Compare the premium, employer contribution, employee costs, provider network, prescription coverage, eligibility and enrollment dates. Confirm preferred doctors and medications using the current plan information. Do not assume every plan includes the same benefits.

Notary services

Can I walk in at the Wall Street address?+

Please contact us first. Our listed Wall Street address is a mailing address, not a confirmed walk-in location. Appointment availability, location and fees need to be confirmed before your visit.

What should I prepare for notarization?+

Confirm the required notarial act, acceptable identification, signer presence and any witness requirements with us beforehand. Ask whether you should wait to sign. A notary does not choose legal wording or provide legal advice.

Quotes & next steps

How can I request a quote or speak with us?+

Use our quote form, call (914) 361-4385 or email quote@ferrerinsgroup.com. You can also use our Zoom Scheduler link to choose an available meeting time and complete your booking. Chat messages alone do not submit a quote or confirm a meeting.

What are your hours?+

Our hours are Monday–Friday, 11am–6pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.

What should I do if I need to file a claim?+

Contact your insurer using the claims information on your policy and ask our team for guidance. For an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency services first. Only the insurer’s review and your policy terms determine whether a claim is covered.

Your situation deserves a conversation.

These answers are general education, not a coverage determination or legal advice. Your policy terms, location and eligibility govern your options. Please keep sensitive personal or medical details out of chat and the quote form.
